Acceptable Use Policy (Beta)

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") outlines rules for using Bartera.

1. Prohibited Items

You may not trade or list:

• Weapons
• Illegal items
• Stolen goods
• Counterfeit goods
• Adult/explicit content
• Hazardous materials
• Items that violate IP rights

2. Prohibited Behavior

You may NOT:

• Impersonate others
• Harass or abuse users
• Spam messages
• Post misleading info
• Use bots or automation
• Commit fraud
• Attempt to bypass fees or verification
• Interfere with platform functionality

3. Phone Verification & Trading

To send or accept trade offers, users must verify a valid phone number via SMS. This requirement helps protect the community from fraud, spam, and abuse.

Users may not:

• Use a phone number that does not belong to them
• Bypass or attempt to circumvent phone verification
• Create multiple accounts to evade verification requirements

4. Shipping Safety Rules

Users must:

• Provide accurate weight and package dimensions
• Package items securely and safely
• Follow all carrier restrictions and customs requirements
• Ship within 3 business days (excluding weekends and U.S. federal holidays) of both parties completing payment
• Use the automatically generated shipping label and tracking number provided on the trade tracking page
• Request an extension (1 or 2 days) in advance if they cannot meet the deadline; longer extensions require contacting support

5. Shipping Fees

Bartera charges a shipping fee for each completed trade. The shipping fee is calculated based on the package weight, dimensions, and distance between origin and destination addresses. The shipping fee includes carrier costs. The total shipping fee will be displayed to you at checkout prior to payment. By completing payment you agree to pay the shipping fee as displayed.

6. Enforcement

Bartera may:

• Remove listings
• Suspend accounts
• Terminate access
• Escalate violations to authorities
